Primer Plus CimentArt

An adhesive primer based on acrylic copolymers designed to improve the adhesion of CimentArt microcement and mineral layers. It is primarily recommended for smooth, low-absorbency, and non-absorbent substrates such as ceramic tiles, porcelain, marble, granite or wood.

  • Increases adhesion
  • For low-absorbency substrates
  • Transparent when dry
  • Interior and exterior use

Reliable substrate bonding

Why use Primer Plus

A quality primer reduces the risk of insufficient adhesion of subsequent layers. Primer Plus increases surface cohesion and creates an optimal base for CimentArt microcement systems.

01

Improved adhesion

Enhances the bond of microcement to smooth, low-absorbency and difficult substrates.

02

Increased cohesion

Helps unify the surface and supports the stability of subsequent cement and microcement layers.

03

More durable system

Contributes to increased surface durability, reducing defects and improving protection against substrate alkalinity.

Designed for smooth and low-absorbency surfaces

Suitable substrates for Primer Plus

The Plus version is intended primarily for surfaces with low absorption where a reliable adhesive intermediate layer is required before microcement application.

  • ceramic tiles and slabs
  • porcelain and vitrified tiles
  • marble and granite
  • stable wooden substrates
  • smooth mineral surfaces
  • low-absorbency concrete and cement substrates
  • renovation of existing stable surfaces
  • interior and exterior projects

First system layer

Position of Primer Plus in the system

Primer Plus is applied to the prepared substrate before the base microcement layer. Its role is to create an adhesive intermediate layer between the original surface and the CimentArt system.

Basic layer sequence
1. Substrate preparation 2. Primer Plus 3. Aqua Base 4. Final microcement 5. Protective system
Primer is not a substitute for substrate preparation

The surface must be solid, clean, dry, degreased and free from loose parts before application. Smooth substrates generally require appropriate mechanical abrasion.

Simple working process

How to apply Primer Plus

Apply the product evenly and in a suitable amount. Excessively thick layers, puddles or runs can negatively affect drying and the adhesion of subsequent layers.

  1. 01

    Substrate check

Verify surface strength, stability and cohesion. Remove loose parts, dirt, wax and grease.

  2. 02

    Mechanical preparation

Roughen smooth ceramics, stone or other sealed surfaces as necessary and then vacuum thoroughly.

  3. 03

    Even application

Apply Primer Plus by brush, roller or airless spraying avoiding excess, puddles and runs.

  4. 04

    Drying

Allow to dry for about 30 minutes or until the surface is dry to the touch.

  5. 05

    Subsequent layer

After drying, proceed with the base Aqua Base layer or other prescribed layer according to the system composition.

Coverage depending on absorbency

Primer Plus consumption

Actual coverage depends on texture, porosity, absorbency and application method. Coverage on smooth, low-absorbency substrates is lower than on rough or more absorbent surfaces.

01

Approximate coverage

Approximately 10–14 m² per 1 kg product depending on substrate condition and absorbency.

02

Highly absorbent surfaces

Approximately 5–7 m² per 1 kg. For very absorbent surfaces, the correct primer type should be assessed.

03

Low-absorbency surfaces

Approximately 10–15 m² per 1 kg depending on smoothness and application method.

Critical application points

Requirements to observe

The substrate must be solid, stable, clean, dry and free from grease. Primer Plus does not replace crack repair, level levelling or removal of loose layers.

Damaged surfaces should be repaired first. If necessary, a second layer can be applied and problematic substrates strengthened with suitable CimentArt fibreglass mesh.

Apply only the necessary amount. Do not create puddles or excessively thick continuous layers. Wash tools with water after application.

Packaging and storage

How to store Primer Plus correctly

Store in the original hermetically sealed container in a dry place protected from the weather. Declared shelf life is 12 months.

01

Available pack sizes

Primer Plus is available in 1 kg, 5 kg and 25 kg packs.

02

Shelf life

Up to 12 months in original sealed packaging when stored correctly.

03

Tool cleaning

Clean brushes, rollers and other equipment with water immediately after use.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ for Primer Plus

What is Primer Plus used for?

It is used to increase the adhesion of CimentArt microcement and mineral layers to prepared substrates. It is mainly intended for smooth and low-absorbency surfaces.

Is Primer Plus suitable for ceramic tiles?

Yes. Ceramic tiles must be solid, stable, thoroughly degreased and mechanically abraded if necessary. Joints and unevenness must be resolved according to the system composition.

How long does Primer Plus take to dry?

The approximate drying time is about 30 minutes. Apply the next layer only when the surface is dry to the touch. Actual time depends on temperature, humidity and applied thickness.

How is Primer Plus applied?

The product can be applied by brush, paint roller or airless spraying.

What is the consumption of Primer Plus?

Typical coverage is approximately 10–14 m² per 1 kg. On low-absorbency surfaces, coverage can be around 10–15 m²/kg, on highly absorbent substrates about 5–7 m²/kg.

Is it visible after drying?

The product is milky white during application and becomes transparent after complete drying.

Can two layers be applied?

On damaged or problematic surfaces where the substrate has been repaired, a second layer can be applied if necessary. Suitability should be assessed based on surface condition.

Is Primer Plus waterproofing?

No. Primer Plus improves adhesion and contributes to system impermeability but does not replace structural waterproofing or the full protective microcement system.

Is it suitable for exterior use?

Yes, the technical data sheet states it is for both interior and exterior use. The substrate must be properly prepared and subsequent layers must conform to the full outdoor system specification.

How to clean application tools?

Clean tools with water immediately after application before the material dries.
