Yes, but a solid structure and full-surface reinforcement with reinforcing mesh is recommended.

Detailed answer

Plasterboard is mainly suitable for walls but must not move at the joints. The biggest risk is not the boards themselves, but poor filling, weak structure, and insufficiently reinforced joints. It is therefore not only about the substrate material, but mainly its condition. Before application, check strength, flatness, grease, dust, cracks, and any movement. If the surface is risky, it is better to reinforce it or first make a test area. We generally recommend using quality reinforcing tapes and high-quality filling to at least Q2 level, followed by sanding, dust removal, and thorough surface priming. Alternatively, a full-surface skim with adhesive and mesh is recommended.

Common mistakes

  • applying on dusty or non-cohesive substrate
  • skipping checks for hollow spots and cracks
  • insufficient degreasing and priming
